Weiss Kreuz

It's been a while since I've recced anything Weiss Kreuz. I like this fandom, despite how cliche'd it has become.

A Weiss Christmas
by Tammaiya

[Aya/Ken :: Fluff. Romance. :: PG-13 :: Shounen ai]

The idea of Aya and Ken together just makes for fluffy-cute, probably because of their polar personalities and a feel-good getting together fic like this worth the toothache. Youji and Omi (hilariously) plot the romance of their friends, an were they successful? Read on and find out!

Chocolate-Vanilla Swirl
by Tammaiya

[Aya/Ken :: Angst. Romance. :: PG-13 :: Yaoi, shounen ai]

It may be a little odd for someone like Ken-ken to angst, but even the cheerful soccer player have little problems sometimes. And who's to bring him out of his angsty-moment by the Man of Ice himself, Aya. The dynamics of their relationship is interesting to read about and in this fic, the author gives us just that.

Furuba / Fruits Basket

This journal has been on a sudden hiatus for the past 3 months. RL had been unexpectedly busy, I didn't mean to neglect on my reccing duties. Anyway, what is important is that I'm back and it's time for new fics to read!

Here are a couple of wonderful Furuba fics about my OTPs :)

The Scientific Method
by Celeste

[Hatori/Shigure :: Romance. Comedy. :: PG-13 :: Shounen-ai, Yaoi]

Hatori is, after all, a doctor, a master of science and his methods are nothing but scientific. This is a very comical take on Hatori's approach to everything that is Shigure. It is amusing how the Inu produced different results each time, each time baffling the good doctor, and each time makes for quite an interesting... ah, scientific experiment.

Sickness and Health
by Celeste

[Hatori/Shigure :: Drama :: PG-13 :: Shounen ai]

The Dog and the Dragon's relationship is one of the more difficult ones to write about, in all its simplicity, there's always an edge that you can't quite point. Even if the story is more focused on their friendship, and author has done a beautiful job of giving us a glimpse of that complicated simplicity in this fic.

The Journal
by Mikagami Morrigan

[Shigure/Mayu :: Romance. Comedy. :: PG :: a little bit inanity]

This fic is currently nominated as "Best (Fruits Basket) Fanfiction for 2006" at the Dotmoon.net Awards. But this isn't just why I'm reccing this story. The author took a leap in writing about a couple that isn't very popular in the fandom and managed to do a great job with portraying their relationship. Read on and if it's worth your taste, go and vote for "The Journal"!

Everyone and Their Mother Wants a Piece of Me
by Scarlet

[Eiri/Shuichi :: Romance. Comedy. :: R :: Shounen ai, lots of cussing]

As an avid reader of Scarlet's works, it was very surprising for me to have found quite a different genre in her list of Gravi fanfiction works. But I have to say, even if this story does not touch me the way her dramas did, I enjoyed it very much and almost always would double up in laughter with the hilarious scenarios she created for Eiri and Shu.

It seems everybody wants 'IN' into the sex life of the famous couple... and Eiri actually takes part in the scoop! Original and hilarious!

Don't Sing!
by anahita

[Eiri/Shuichi :: Romance. Humor. :: R :: Shounen ai, lime content]

It's a bit of sillyness, but one of the very few original ones I've read. It's a hilarious satire, peeking breifly into the daily life of the famous singer and his equally famous writer-boyfriend.

I suppose, if Eiri had another flaw, that would be... that.

Fanfic
by anahita

[Eiri/Shuichi, Ryuichi/Shuichi :: Romance. Comedy. :: R :: Shounen Ai, Lemon content, Yaoi]

This comedy is a little less dark than the other fic by Anahita, but the comedy is still fantastic. Details abound, with a dose of crazy mystery that just makes you want to turn to the next chapter - if not for the hlarity, just to confirm who started it all. I take this a parody of sorts.

Kissing Language
by Seifer

[Hiro/Suguru :: Romance. Fluff. :: PG-13 :: shounen ai]

It's one of those "convenient circumstances" get-together plots that are good for one-shot stories like these. Hiroshi is a bit too naughty in this, as Suguru played it so coy the "positions" are a no-brainer. But there is an edge to it, as Hiro teaches his bandmate the different Kissing Languages. Fluff and spicy humor can make cute.

Metamorphosis
by Chu

[Eiri/Shuichi :: Romance. Citrus. :: NC-17 :: yaoi and explicit boy sex]

Sure, this is smut--but one of those very few that are very well written, thought-out and planned up to the last detail. But even details can bore a reader and make you want to get to "the good parts"--not this one though. The writing style is awesome, such that you'd find yourself wanting to be in Eiri's position. This is probably one of the rarer fics that this quote can be applied to: "It's not the destination, but the journey."

Read on and find out what I mean.

Furuba / Fruits Basket

Ah, how I have missed this fandom! Not to mention, my favorite pairing in the series. It's just so sad Fruits Basket has finally ended :( --but I still haven't read the manga! So I feel like I still have an excuse for pimping out my OTP.

Pink Moon
by Vanilla Ofuda

[Hatori/Ayame :: Romance. Fluff. :: PG :: Shounen-ai]

Amazingly in-character and even if it's fluff, it's a well-delievered fluff. A little exaggerated, but maybe that's because Ayame's in it. I appreciated the hints of tension and struggle between the Snake and the Seahorse, it's what makes their relationship a bit more fun to watch, just as in the manga or anime.

For You
by S

[Hatori/Ayame :: Angst. Romance. Citrus. :: NC-17 :: Yaoi. Angst. Non-con bondage, explicit sex scenes]

Dark, dark angst. Mind that the details were thoroughly written--not just the emotions, but the actual descriptions of actions and especially the sex scene. So if non-con or bondage irks you, stay away from it--or skip it, if need be. Because you just cannot miss this story. So painful, it makes you want to bleed with Hatori and Ayame.

Love Song
by S

[Hatori/Ayame :: Angst. Romance. :: G :: Shounen-ai]

This was set for (probably) after the series, but no real spoiler warning (perhaps a speculation of what might happen in the future).

And just as before, the author managed to portray Ayame's unrequited love for his best friend so magnificently. However, it was Hatori's struggle in his emotions that was really moving. This work is simply, just beautiful.

Happy 2007!

...that's it! Let's begin the new year with light-hearted recs. I hope you enjoy them. I've read these months ago, but they still haven't lost their charm. I just LOVE Gurabiteshiyon!~

Restless
by Hawk Cloud

[Eiri/Shuichi :: Romance. Fluff. :: PG-15 :: implicit mention of sex, yaoi, shounen-ai]

A short introspective on Eiri--who actually *thinks* after sex? Seriously. I especially enjoyed HawkCloud's characterization of the writer though, not in the normal way that she writes him, but still with that distinct, sardonic taste that is Yuki Eiri. It pulls you into his line of thought, then cuts it abructly with a crack-ful of Shuichi. It's magnificent!

Behind Closed Doors
by DarkChylde

[Eiri/Tatsuha (or is it?) :: Humor. :: R :: Yaoi-what else? and all the yummy implicit stuff]

Mika overhears something she shouldn't have... but she could not stop not listening either. (I leave it as that, because anything more would spoil the fun ^^)

Cliche
by ANKuma

[Eiri/Shuichi :: Romance. Humor. :: PG-13 :: shounen ai, implicit things, curses]

This fic is entirely senseless--but that's the point, I think. The author starts off with the idea that there are just too many cliche-Gurabi fics out there, and this was spawned as a parody to all those been-there-done-that-plots. You don't have to like or agree, but it's meant to be enjoyed!

This has got to be my Best SMUT REC - *E V E R*!!!!

Depravity & Depravity 1.0
by ffpanda

[Eiri/Shuichi, Hiro/Suguru :: Romance. Citrus. :: NC-17 :: besides Shounen Ai and Yaoi? **HEAVY BDSM** (I couldn't emphasize that warning more, but seriously, STAY AWAY if this stuff repulses you!)]

Just when Hiro thought he knew everything about his best friend, a teeny Freudian slip introduces the guitarist to a whole new sex-lifestyle. Can he handle it though?

ffpanda is simply outrageous! The story is wonderfully written, thoroughly detailed and plotted out--and I'm just talking about the plot. It's got humor, a bit of drama and angst thrown in for good measure, and lots and lots of boy-lovin'! The "variety" would keep the reader at the edge of his seat because it's truly good prose, and characterizations are perfect. But what I like best about this is, it's actually quite educational--now who would've thought, eh?

Depravity is the main story with the actual plotline, and is currently on its 36th chapter--it's not going to end anytime soon I hope! Depravity 1.0 are vignettes/scenes that the author couldn't include in the original storyline. They are just as heady and mind-blowing.

A MUST-READ for every Gravitation fan--you haven't really delved into the fandom without reading this story even once!

Little Conversations
by HawkCloud

[Eiri+Tatsuha (non-romantic), Eiri/Shuichi (implied) :: General. Humor. :: R :: bad, coarse language, insanity all around]

Ah, incomparable brotherly love.

It's what I love the most about the Uesugi brothers' relationship: they show their love for each other in the most creative of ways! --And strengthening it through 'little conversations'.

A brilliant piece of comedy by none other than the great HawkCloud!

The Gospel According to Big Daddy
by Asrella

[Tatsuha/Ryuichi :: Romance. Drama. Humor. :: R :: Shounen Ai, coarse language and ridiculously insane adult topics]

Tatsuha confronts the biggest obstacle in his and Ryuichi's established relationship: his father and the whole Buddhist religion. Will he succeed in fighting for his love?

In spite of the seriousness of the situation and some of the topics presented, the author managed to steer it into a somewhat comedic, exaggerated take. Quite an awesome satiric writing style, you could almost forgive the little OOCness in the characters.

Big Daddy Monk's Late Nite Bishounen Love Hotline
by Asrella

[Tatsuha/Ryuichi :: Romance. Humor. :: R :: Shounen Ai, coarse language and ridiculously insane adult topics]

This could be considered a sequel to the previous story, but it still stands on its own.

Tatsuha's back and he's spreading BOY LOVE in the air waves. Although it doesn't have a concrete plot, unlike the first story, the hilarity makes up for it--in more ways than one. It also includes some crossovers with a few other anime.
